Mustelid Manor Memoirs

"Having an aura of menace is like having a pet weasel, because you rarely meet someone who has one, and when you do it makes you want to hide under the coffee table." ~Lemony Snicket~ (from The Slippery Slope)

A Little R&R

Mom was surprised to come out of the forbidden room to discover that we had turned on the radio on the stereo; pulled down her blankets to make ourselves snuggly spots and we were crashed out there listening to the oldies.

She knows that we are smarter than cats or dogs—but sometimes she still doesn’t give us enough credit. If we were smart enough to pull the stuffing out of the couch arms to make ourselves hammocks, why would turning on the radio and making beds be a big deal? Silly mom…

Anyone Want A Cat?

Mash did it this time! We are sure that mom will get rid of her now. The main reason mom worries about the tarantulas getting loose is because if we got bit, it would make us really sick and we might die.

She’s right though, if the tarantulas were out, we would want to catch them and put them in our hidey places. She thinks even more likely, they would find our hidey places on their own and would bite us when we tried to get in them.

She and Mash don’t get in those places, so she doesn’t think it would be a problem for either of them. We suspect that Mash knows all of this and it is yet another of her plots to do away with us…

Sassy's Blog

Sassy has her own blog now. You can check it out here or you can access it through the link below (under "Other Ferret Blogs"). For those of you that don't remember Sassy, you can check out our connection to Sassy at: Sassy's Story, as well as pictures of Sassy's stay and visits here.

While we still don't want Sassy to ever come back here (not even to visit)--we do enjoy hearing of her crazy antics and we are glad that other ferrets are finally starting to publish their own blogs!

Bad Ferrets?

Sassy’s mom sent this link about bad ferrets. While we have done most of the stuff on the lists, we aren’t quite sure who came up with the notion that these are bad things?

Mom said that she must have quite the bunch to be able to find new things that weren't already on the list. Maybe that is why she always asks us, "Tell me again why I let you guys live here?"

Funny mom! We always hear her saying that no matter how bad we are being, we make her laugh. So apparently it is okay for us to continue as is...

Mash Busted Again

We figured that we
needed to lighten
the atmosphere a
bit; so here's one of
the more recent
pictures we caught
of Mash.

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.

It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge is a land of meadows, hills and valleys, all of it covered with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this lovely land. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. There, the old and frail animals are young are again. Those who are maimed are made whole once more. They play all day with other, content and comfortable.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with the special person who loved them on Earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! Then, the nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! You have been seen, and that one suddenly runs from the group!

You take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then, together, you cross the Rainbow Bridge, never again to be separated.

And Then There Were Five...

"Baron finally came to get Banter. I hope he is happy again."
~Rikki Tikki Tavi~

"It was horrible. We were all sleeping in the VW hammock when it happened. He ran up to the top level, probably looking for mom to help him... he made it as far as the blanket. His tail got really fuzzy like it does when he is really scared. I kept nudging him and trying to get him to get back up, but then he started getting cold and mom finally came home. I don't know what she did with him. None of us will go on the top level. I keep clucking and calling him, but I don't know where he is..."
~Link #9~

"First she leaves us for Christmas and we had to be here alone all week. Then she left and came home with Mash. Last night, she left and I bet if she would have been here, she could have helped Banter. Then to boot, I had to get a bath and she took almost all of our blankets and hammocks. Everyone is upset and going to her for comfort. Not me. I've seen a lot of ferrets leave our lives, but never have we been forced to be there and watch."
~Winzig~

"I gave mom huge kisses and cuddles... She finally got rid of Banter and I can finally sleep in peace..."
~Crimson Comet~

"He didn't even get to play with all of the new toys and presents she brought home from her trip. Is that why she keeps crying?"
